Table Tuesday ♥ Mason Jar Salad

With just a little prep you will have your lunch taken care of for the entire week!

_MG_4655

This is my friend Shelly!

We’ve been BF’s since High School

She’s beautiful, kind, smart, funny and has one of the biggest caring hearts I know♥

_MG_4636

First you’ll need Mason Jars washed and ready

Here is a list of Ingredients we used

Salad Dressing of your choice (we used Ki’s Herb Vinaigrette)

10 Cherry tomatoes

1/2 bag Carrots

1 Yellow Pepper

1 Corn

1 Squash

1/4 of Purple Cabbage

1 Avocado

1 Lemon (for avocado)

1 Package of Just Chicken (trader joes)

1 bag of Herb Lettuce Mix

1 bag of Arugula

After all your veggies are chopped…make sure you start with the salad dressing on the bottom.  This step is very important!  The next veggie should be the tomato, peppers, carrots, squash, cabbage, corn, avocado, chicken (in that order)…then top it with your lettuce & arugula.  You can also add some pink Himalayan salt and pepper to the top.   Store in the fridge…and you’ve got a ready meal to grab!

_MG_4594

We love this ready to use “Just Chicken” from Trader Joes

_MG_4595

Important TIP:  Make sure you add lemon to the avocados!!

Keeps them green’n fresh

_MG_4601

When ready to eat just shake the jar, grab a fork and Bon Apetite!

_MG_4633

_MG_4634

Table Tuesday… Easy Dessert!

My hubby and son went to see StarWars.  My daughter was napping.  The house was nice and quiet.  I had a dinner party to go to that night and I was responsible for bringing dessert…Brownies was on the menu.  Instead of working during my daughters nap I decided to rest and fell asleep by accident.  Woke up groggy…and had no time to make brownies.

So if you’re ever responsible for dessert and you don’t have time to whip something up… try this quick and easy idea (see video above)

Things to remember:  It’s the thought that counts…and also, It’s all about the presentation.

Here are some pretty decorative stands I would use…see below.

Table Tuesday…setting up the X-mas Tree!

It’s throw back Tuesday for this weeks Table Tuesday!  Hope you enjoy the video!

One of my favorite days of the year is setting up the Christmas Tree!  It’s so fun to pull out old ornaments, crank up the Xmas jams and stay in our PJ’s all day!  To see the excitement on my kids faces….that is so priceless.  And how fun is it to relive being a kid again?!   Although I’m pretty much a grown-up-kid…so that comes pretty easy for me ;).  We have no mantle on our fireplace (so annoying)…so every year I’m trying to find a creative place to hang the kids stockings.  We installed a new Built in this year…so the knobs on there worked perfectly!  No Mantle – No Problem.  So hope you have a fun time decorating your home for the holiday season!  More holiday decor ideas coming very soon.  xoxo

Don’t forget to change the water and give the stems a fresh new cut every other day.  Also see below for another way I styled this arrangement.  After it was in the tall vase for about 3 days….I cut the stems really short and dispersed the bouquet into 2 short vases.  I put one on our entry console and the other on our living room table (see below).

BOOKS

They are essentials when it comes to styling a bookcase.  There is not one set of rules when displaying books.  However when dealing with different widths and heights I like to keep the taller ones in the center…and the shorter books on the ends.

 FLOWERS

Fresh flowers are probably one of my favorite accessories.  I love the life, texture and color it can bring into a room.  I know that it can be challenging to keep up with fresh flowers weekly.  I have a tip on how to extent the life of fresh flowers…you can see my tips and video here.   If fresh flowers are not realistic you can find some beautiful silk arrangements that look very realistic.  Just be cautious of the cheap plastic looking ones.

TELL A STORY

How cool are these bookends!  They are real train track pieces from the city of Kensington.  I love accessories that have a story.   A great conversation piece that brings back memories.

_MG_9982

 CLOCKS

Not only are they a timeless accessory (no pun) but they are functional too.

 CANDLES

Another one of my must haves!  I’m not a fan of colored wax candles…Love white, off-white or cream.  Here are some of my favorites below…

_MG_9979

BASKETS

All the toys you originally saw in the video (see above) are now hidden in gorgeous baskets.  The baskets are all on the lower section of this wall unit…easily accessible for the kids.  It’s kinda like a super fancy cubby.

These are my current favorite baskets (great prices too!).

But First, Coffee.

_MG_9749

This cup says it all!  The only trick is to wake up early enough before the rest of the house so I’m actually able to drink a cup of coffee without having to microwave it 500 times.  I can’t tell you how many times I’ll go to heat up lunch (or even dinner)…and I’ll find my poor, sad and lonely coffee waiting for me.  Oops sorry I forgot you.  If you can relate…my TIP for avoiding the re-heating thing is to use a traveler mug at home.  The lid will definitely keep it warmer longer! (Plus there’s something about drinking out of a lid that makes it feel like a splurge!)

One of our favorite drinks at Starbucks is their Cinnamon Dolce Latte.  We don’t have it in the budget to go there every morning… so we did a little research and brought Starbucks to us!  Here’s our own version of this delicious drink we make every morning.

RECIPE

THE STYLIN CINNAMON DULCE LATTE

2 shots of Nespresso (these are the espresso pods)

2 pumps of Starbucks Cinnamon Dolce Syrup.  You can buy it here

Splash of half and half

Whip cream (optional)

Sprinkle the top with organic raw sugar and cinnamon

Cheers!

This is the Nespresso Machine we have.  It’s so worth the investment!   We haven’t been able to go back to our old coffee maker since.

You can buy the Cinnamon Dolce Syrup here

If you’re not a fan of cinnamon here are some other flavored syrups you might like…

“Table Tuesday’s”

photoIf you’re a note taker or a “List” person like me…you will love these Staedtler colored pens.  I love color coding my calendar and to do list.  It really helps make it look more organized and manageable.  Plus I love having an excuse to use these pens.  You can shop for it down below.  I’ve also included some of my favorite desk accessories that will be sure to add a little glam to your work space.  xoxo, Ay

“Table Tuesdays”

I love finding accessories that are not only functional but are stylish at the same time.  This adorable doggie tape dispenser is a new addition to my gold-tone family.  It matches the other gold desk accessories that I also bought from Target.  The MAC lip color “Toying Around” is one of my year round favorites.  I don’t pull out my bright colors only in the Spring/Summer.  Winter months beg for a pop of cheery color…especially when wearing darker clothing.  My 3 year old daughter loves playing with all my jewelry and make up.  She’s only 3!?!?  I’m screwed!  But I will say we have fun!  Catch the video above to see her caught in the act of stealing my favorite lipstick 🙂   xoxo, Ay

“Table Tuesday’s” The Guest Room Side Table

Table Tuesday this week is a quick peek at my guest rooms side table.  I found the end table at HomeGoods and the switched out the plain white knobs for decorative ones.  They look similar to the ones at Anthropologie but they are less than 1/2 the price at Cost Plus World Market.  Kleenex boxes are always a necessity…but i’m not really a fan of decorating with them.  See the quick video above and how I disguised that gorgeous little cardboard box… _MG_4350

“Table Tuesdays” Thanksgiving Edition

_MG_5902_MG_5855 _MG_5860 _MG_5863 _MG_5874 _MG_5883 _MG_5842_MG_5890 _MG_5894   _MG_5905_MG_5909 This week’s “Table Tuesdays” is all about Thanksgiving.  We’re hosting this year and I’ll admit…I’m not much of a cook these days.  I used to love cooking but with 2 busy kids, homework, activities, laundry, a new business…etc, etc.  I can hardly enjoy even the thought of putting hours into a home cooked meal.  That’s where my mom “Semra” the Master Culinary Extraordinaire comes to save the day…and Thanksgiving.  We’ve teamed up between the main course, sides and dessert.  And of course I’m responsible for the decorations and table settings.

This years theme is “Garden Chic”.  The center piece accessories are actually accessories for outdoors.  I found them in the Garden Aisle at Home goods.  I love how their not supposed to be used indoors…but i’m not one to follow all the rules.  The color pallet is also not your average “Holiday” scheme.  Which is why I loved the Salmon Coral roses against the rustic white centerpieces and the gold accents.  Our wedding gifts are finally being put to some good use…that’s our fine china from our registry.  Love the gray-blue accents in the gold.  The small picture frames are a nice, fancy touch to personalize each guests location.  The plate chargers and wine glasses are all slightly different to give a unique touch.  Hope you enjoy the quick video (see above).  Also hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving week.  Don’t forget to unplug and be present in life’s precious moments.  xoxo

Think Outside the Candle Holder “Table Tuesdays”

Welcome back to my Table Tuesdays!!  This week I’m thinking outside the Box…I mean outside the Candle Holder.  When I brought these gorgeous roses home from a quick errand to Costco I had to search the house for at least 3 vases to fit all the roses.  After filling up 2 glasses vases…I wanted to do something different for the 3rd bunch.  This candle holder caught my eye as I was scanning the shelves.  It ended up working out perfectly.  To see how I transformed my Candle holder to a functional vase please watch the quick video below.  Hope this inspires you to find accessories you already have at home to use in unexpected ways.  xoxo

Cool Tones today on “Table Tuesdays”

_MG_3143

_MG_3151_MG_3160_MG_3158_MG_3148_MG_3146  _MG_3155Welcome back to “Table Tuesdays”!  This week is about cooler toned accessories.  Even the beautiful Hydrangeas are in the cool toned family.  This Chevron tray caught my eye immediately while I was out shopping.  It wouldn’t have the same feel if it didn’t have the gold trim on the bottom and top.  These are things I look for when I’m out hunting for new treasures.  It’s all about the details!  I added natural elements such as the blue/gold fossil rock and the beautiful white on white piece of coral.  The Herb stakes are meant for the garden…but hey I’m not one to go by the book.  The peek-a-boo glass box was just too freak’n cute not to display.  The leaf imprinted mirrored styling box was the perfect accessory to conceal my coasters.  Hope this inspires you to have fun decorating your own table top!  xoxo

Table Tuesdays With Aylin

_MG_2846I’m so excited to welcome you to Table Tuesdays!   From my living room, family room, kitchen to even my bedside table.  I will be sharing what’s on my table each week!  I hope what you see inspires you to get creative, think outside the box and have fun decorating your own.  I’ll admit…I like pretty things.  And pretty things can come with a hefty price tag.  Well…I love to be challenged.  And most of what you’ll see on my Table Tuesdays are deals that can not be passed!   They might look expensive but 9 out of 10 times they’re are a steal.  So again welcome to my Table Tuesdays!

Please enjoy the quick video below…

_MG_2848_MG_2851 _MG_2860My new favorite find from Home Goods is this gorgeous Desk-Top Clock.  It has a beautiful shape and antique gold finish.  I love the size.  And I especially love how it has a stand on the back (just like a picture frame).  It’s nice having the large face in my face…so I don’t get carried away on the computer.  Don’t want to forget to pick up my kids from school…lol-jk.  It was only $24.99.  One thing you’ll see lots of in the next coming weeks are styling boxes.  Not sure if thats the correct term?  But that’s what I like to call them.  I love how they’re pretty as jewelry boxes…but super functional.  I added sharpie markers, post it’s, erasers and measuring tape to the one on my desk.  It keeps everything organized and concealed with style.  Also from Home Goods and only $14.99.  I had some carryover from a dozen roses I bought and couldn’t find a vase small enough for just 3 roses.   So I rummaged through my kitchen cabinets and found an old mason jar.  They fit perfect! Mason Jars can be pricey if you buy them from home stores or craft stores.  Check out your local grocery store’s container aisle.  They are much cheaper there!  xoxo
